Business Networking Group

The Business Networking Group is a new addition to the range of Rotary opportunities within Poole Bay Rotary Club.

The inaugural meeting took place on Thursday 6 October 2016.

The group meets fortnightly at The Plantation (53 Cliff Drive, Canford Cliffs, Poole BH13 7JF) between 7.45am and 8.45am over a light buffet breakfast.
(For exact dates, please see "Current events".)

The group is designed to offer busy, younger, working people the opportunity to enjoy all that Rotary provides, without the commitment to a long, weekly meeting and meal.  It is designed to be fun, informal - and offer business networking opportunities.

Routes to Roots project exceeds expectations

We smashed the target we had set oursleves of £500, and raised a magnificent £1768 for Routes to Roots.

A big thank you to all those who
  • Donated when we took the Santa Express out around the streets in Poole
  • Put money into the buckets we took round with during our Street Music event
  • Bought raffle tickets.

This was our first project, as a new Rotary group, and saw all of us involved in one way or another. Plus we enjoyed the support of the Tuesday Evening Group in all these fundraising activities.

We meet at 7.30am for a light breakfast (normally £5, but no charge for potential new members this time, although donations are always welcome!) and finish around 8.45am.  So we know how many people are coming (how many sausage & bacon sandwiches to make!) please use the "Contact us" box below to book your place.  Look forward to seeing you on Thursday 1 December

Business Networking Group - 17 November

Thanks to the work undertaken since our last meeting by project leaders Kev and Gemma, we were able to progress our first major project, helping Routes to Roots with their Christmas/winter appeal.

  • The BNG will be taking Poole Bay's Christmas Santa Train out around Oakdale on Monday 12 December raising money
  • We have already obtained 3 sleeping bags - and are still on the look out for more
  • We will be fundraising during a music gig in the pubs on Poole Quay on Saturday 17 December (more details to follow)

Business Networking Group - 3 November

Great celebrations today as we inducted the first two new members of the Business Networking Group.

Roger Allen (incoming President for 2017/18) and part of the Membership Committe presented Gemma and Kev with their Club polo shirts, a Rotary key ring - and most prized of all, their Rotary badges.  Recognisable the world over, the Rotary badge gives you access to any Rotary Club and opens the door to over 1.2m new friendships.

The Group also elected Dimpee as their Chair person and agreed their second project - raising money to support Poole's "Routes to Roots" Christmas appeal, setting themselves a target to raise at least £500 over the next two months.

Business Networking Group - 20 October

Only our second meeting, but already we're into our first project - collecting shoeboxes to be sent overseas this Christmas to children in need.

Also had time to talk about ideas for other projects, some leadership positions that we need to fill, as well as some suggestions for marketing the group to other new members.

Lots happening and a great feeling of friendship already starting to develop within the group.

Business Networking Group - 6 October

Real buzz to the first meeting of this new style Rotary group.

Dimpee chaired the meeting, introducing short presentations on Rotary generally (by Poole Bay President Eddie Newcomb) and examples of local Rotary projects from Don Nutt.

People were asked to introduce themselves and to talk briefly about their job, what they consider to be their key skills and what attracted them to this first meeting.

Dimpee also spoke about her Rotary journey and aspirations for the new group.
